Stay Alert to Prevent Machine-Related Injuries at Work

Stay alert! Workers around moving equipment are at risk of severe injury or death. Being aware of your surroundings and practicing workplace safety can help lower this risk.

Machine safety practices help protect workers from production equipment, conveyor belts, and hand injuries. Conveyor belts are just as hazardous, as hair, hands, or clothing can get caught in moving parts, leading to serious injuries. Keep safety top of mind with these tips!

5 Tips for Machinery and Mobile Equipment Safety

  1. Remain alert to equipment moving around you. Listen for horns or signals and look for hazards.
  2. Stay within marked foot traffic lanes, if available.
  3. Do not go near any moving equipment unless it is necessary.
  4. Keep eye contact with the equipment operator. See and be seen.
  5. Do not walk alongside moving equipment. If it is necessary to travel with a piece of equipment, plan with the operator to be in front or behind.
